USFS Takes Down 200′ Tree in Alpine Meadows for Defensible Space

June 15, 2012 by dwestall Leave a Comment

I have a house in escrow in the Alpine Meadows neighborhood of Lake Tahoe and during our inspections we realized that there were 3 very large dead trees located on the adjacent property that are owned by the United States Forest Service which were creating health and safety issues.  These trees are a hazard for 2 reasons, 1) they are dead and create a wild fire/defensible space issue and 2) the tree’s are between 100′ and 200′ and could possibly fall on the house in gale force winds, which are common during big winter storms.  For these reasons we contacted the USFS, explained the situation and within a few days we had a 3 man crew out to remove  the standing dead trees.  This is a great example of how I take a proactive approach to selling Lake Tahoe real estate and how I always have my clients interests in mind.  Enjoy the video!
